Post Apocalypse Jellyfish

This creature acts as a living fish tank to protect it's inhabitants from the polluted water in a sunken city.

3D Animation Finals

Some crazy projects from my 3D animation class. The diorama one with the robot arm has pieces borrowed from Tadpole 3159's Metal Gear Rex model from Turbosquid as well as a car model handed out in class. Other than that everything is 100% modeled by me. Quite a bit of work.

CG Airships!

These are completed renders from my airships made at Pixelfire. The animation they made with my models look great, and the rendering looks really clean! It's very exciting to see my work composed into professional motion pieces. Thanks to everyone at Pixelfire!

A Bit of Nature

Here's a scene in Maya with a pretty high level of detail. I used Vray for rendering, lights and cameras, and used an HDRI to get the background and ambient lighting.

CG Orchid

An orchid I made in Maya. The textures for the leaves and the ceramic pot I took myself on my Canon Rebel T1i. I think they turned out fancy.

Steampunk Sea Life

I did the concept design for these creatures as well as the 3D modeling and texturing. Props to my friend Jacob at Pixelfire who polished them and nailed the lighting! It's exciting to see my work fit into a production pipeline. Check out the studio I interned at at: http://www.pixelfire.net/

More Airships!

Some Airships from last month's project at work at Pixelfire. I did lot's of study on light and texture for the cloudy skies. Lots of zany designs for the airships too.

Freelance

A few months ago I began some freelance work with my friend who was going to release an album called Mixed Metaphors under the pseudonym, Cloud Canvas. He had a very strong conceptual basis for what he wanted the work to look like, and after some discussion I started doing some silhouettes. We went through quite a few revisions of the silhouettes until we got exactly what he was looking for.

After we had boiled down the design to the above silhouette, I started developing it as a 3D model, simply referred to as the 'emblem'. I chose to make the cover emblem in 3D software so it could be reposed from different angles for other assets of album related art work.

I did the texturing and bump maps for the model in Mudbox, which I learned for this project.

After numerous revisions and lot's of render crashes, we ended up with the final album cover below.

Thanks to Nick Suda for a great learning opportunity and an exciting project! Check out his album here: http://nicksuda.bandcamp.com/album/mixed-metaphors

Fallen Angels

I recently watched Fallen Angels by Wong Kar Wai and just love his daring cinematography and use of fish eye lenses. Here is a sketch of a frame from the end of the movie.

Tribe of Machines

These designs were created for my Entertainment Design class. I changed the original concept to be about a world abandoned by humans where robots have adopted tribal and nomadic roles. Each set of three final designs was derived from the silhouettes below it.

Sculptris Musings

Just downloaded Pixologic's Sculptris for free on their site. It's an incredible program, very easy to use and intuitive. Each of these busts took under two hours to sculpt.

3D Environment Modeling

Personal project done during the first two weeks of school. Everything made in Maya, retouched in Photoshop CS5.
